Job Summary:

The Emergency Department Nurse provides critical nursing care in a 9-bed emergency department at a critical access hospital. This role involves delivering skilled nursing assessment, treatment, and emergency interventions to patients in urgent and emergent conditions. The nurse collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure high-quality patient care within a fast-paced and dynamic environment, primarily working night shifts.

Responsibilities:

• Perform patient assessments and triage in the emergency department.
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered.
• Provide emergency nursing care including advanced cardiac life support interventions.
• Utilize web-based electronic medical records (T-system EMR) for documentation and communication.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver coordinated care.
• Maintain compliance with hospital policies and emergency nursing protocols.
• Participate in ongoing education and maintain certifications relevant to emergency nursing.

Required Skills & Certifications:

• Active Registered Nurse license in the state of Texas.
• Minimum of 5 years nursing experience, preferably in emergency care.
• Certification in Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENPC) certification.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Proficient in use of electronic medical record systems, specifically T-system EMR.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

• Prior experience working in a critical access hospital emergency department.
• Additional certifications related to emergency nursing or critical care.

Special Considerations:

• Must be able to work night shifts in a 12-hour rotation.
• Work environment is a 9-bed emergency department in a critical access hospital setting.
• Ability to function effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced emergency care environment.

Scheduling:

• 12-hour night shifts.
• Schedule follows a 6 days on, 8 days off rotation.
