We are seeking an experienced Federal Construction Site Superintendent to oversee field operations on government construction projects from mobilisation through completion. The successful candidate will provide day-to-day leadership on site, ensuring work is performed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved plans, specifications, schedules, quality standards, and applicable federal regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of commercial or public-sector construction, excellent coordination skills, and the confidence to manage multiple contractors and stakeholders in a demanding site environment.
Responsibilities include supervising subcontractors, trade personnel, site logistics, deliveries, material control, and daily construction activities. You will interpret drawings and specifications, coordinate inspections, monitor progress against the project schedule, identify risks and delays, and implement corrective actions. The Superintendent will conduct site meetings, maintain daily reports and records, review work for compliance, support change order and cost documentation, and coordinate with project management, government representatives, inspectors, designers, and other project stakeholders. You will also enforce site safety requirements, participate in toolbox talks and inspections, address quality issues, and help ensure the project is delivered on time and within budget.
Candidates should have significant experience supervising construction projects, preferably in federal, military, institutional, infrastructure, or other highly regulated environments. A demonstrated ability to read construction documents, manage subcontractors, resolve field conflicts, and communicate clearly with diverse teams is essential. Knowledge of federal contracting procedures, quality control processes, safety regulations, and construction scheduling software is highly desirable. A recognised construction, engineering, or safety qualification will be an advantage, as will experience with project documentation and electronic reporting systems. The position may require security clearance, background screening, travel, and work in active or restricted-access environments. Applicants should be organised, decisive, safety-focused, and able to maintain professional standards under changing priorities and tight deadlines.
